This year Cheapo Delux visited the long standing and well renowned Wollensky Grill for our annual Christmas Burger meeting. It was the perfect mix of warm holiday cheer and delicious food! Upon arrival, the Cheapos headed to the bar and found the regulars very accommodating, a short wait and delicious drinks. Who doesn’t love a Manhattan on a rainy Wednesday night? Our server was merry and definitely into our burger camaraderie and gift exchange. Our monogrammed crowns were also a hit. Now for the important part, the burger, I got my standard Swiss Burger Medium Rare and of course loaded it with french fries (best of both worlds). It was perfectly cooked, slightly red and juicy in the middle and the bun was fresh and fluffy. Overall, i rate it a 9.5, making it number 2 on my top 5 list, only being beat by the wondrous Black Label Burger at Minetta. The sides were also delectable, but the honorable mention certainly goes to the Mac and Cheese. Massive shells, cooked to a golden brown perfection on top with a warm cheesy center. I think we had desert and i think it was a chocolate lava cake, but i was on to my second Manhattan by then and basking in burger bliss. Thanks Wollensky Grill, we had an awesome time!
